After you have been invited to amazing dinners and cookies during the Christmas time you feel like slowing down a bit, going for some meals that are less sweet, not that heavy and a bit lower in calorie. Your liver probably had to work quite hard on that mulled wine and the gravy at Thanksgiving. Still you do want a meal that makes you happy, tastes good and still keeps you full for a longer time. Further you might know I love food I can carry with me especially in the morning. The Green Detox Protein Smoothie has fiber from vegetables and fruit, protein from the hemp protein powder and lots of vitamins, minerals that make you happy and glow.
I am not the biggest smoothie fan for some reason, some are just quite boring or just do not satisfy my taste buds. If you are a fan of them, try the Probiotic Orange Smoothie, so good. Once in a while I still feel the need for a nice green smoothie. Why are green foods so healthy? Mosty green foods like broccoli, spinach or kale are low in calories but have a lof vitamins and antioxidants and phytonutrients.
Phytonutrients have great healing power, especially on your gut where most of your immune system is located. The smoothie also uses avocado which is high in potassium, good for lowering your blood pressure which is linked to heart problems, strokes and kidney failure. Further lost of healthy fats like oleic acid linked to reducing inflammation and for cancer prevention. The hemp seeds or hemp protein powder contains a lot of vitamin A, C and E as well as an ideal ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids.
