There is a saying that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, with this Mango Turmeric Oatmeal Smoothie Bowl it is the right start. Even though, I admit that any type of solid food before 9am or better 10am is too early for me. As my father always used to say, everything before is still in the middle of the night and who eats breakfast in the middle if the night anyway? Unfortunately I am also the kind of person who likes pushing the “snooze button” on the alarm clock. Of course, everyone knows that this only a mind game and in the end it would have been more wise to just sleep 30 minutes longer. But maybe this early morning game makes us feel kind of rebellious?
Anyway, at that time I’m still not hungry and need some time to become fully awake. Ideally I do sports first thing in the morning. Sounds like a nerd, because if not I mostly be be too lazy at night. Fortunately, I have the most beautiful running track in Hamburg, the lake Alster, almost at my doorstep, that even I am sometimes out of excuses. After my run I shower and while I am in there, my electric milk frother is working on my Matcha Latte. A great tip, who likes to drink Matcha Latte, all the ingredients in the frother and when you’re done with the shower, also is your Matcha.

One of my all-time favorite breakfasts – Mango Turmeric Oatmeal Smoothie Bowl and a fresh Juice.
Those, like me, who follow other foodies on Instragram have probably seen numerous of those beautiful smoothie bowls, almost too good to eat. Therefore, I have mixed my own Mango Turmeric Oatmeal Smoothie Bowl. This is a “basic”, you have the chance to live out your creativity and if you lack that in the morning, simply sprinkle a few fruits and nuts on it, finished. Do not worry, I also do not bother my fruits with cutters every morning to bring them in the form of stars or hearts.
Why should you use a spice called turmeric in your breakfast bowl? Agreed, sounds a bit odd. First the turmeric gives the smoothie bowl a more intense yellow color. Turmeric is what gives curries its nice yellow color because it is part of most curry spice mixtures. It is also known as the Asian saffron. The active ingredient curcumin makes turmeric a healthy food and an important medicinal plants. According to various studies, turmeric has anti-inflammatory effects. So if you have arthritis or rheumatism it does not hurt to include turmeric in your diet. Turmeric also is supposed to have a preventive measure against cancer and Alzheimer and a positive effect on cholesterol levels.
The oatmeal contains important dietary fiber, which ensure that you stay full longer and are not hungry again after an hour. The Mango Turmeric Oatmeal Smoothie Bowl also has plenty of healthy carbohydrates, so that you can replenish your storage in the morning and your brain cells get enough energy to function properly.
With a good mixer, the breakfast can be prepare super easily in under 5 minutes, so that if you do get hungry at the office after 10 am you have something healthy.
