Hi, my name is Jules or actually it is my nickname and my real one is Juliane. After spending some time in the USA as an Au Pair and a student my nickname somehow stuck – together with my love for food that is a little different. Also something I discovered in the USA.
What do have USA and good food in common?
Okay, I know the USA does not really stand for healthy food, more for Fast Food and chains like McDonald’s or Burger King. But at the same time superfoods, fitness trends as well as restaurants and stores that are customed for a niche audience. When I stepped into a Whole Foods supermarket for the first time I did not ever want to leave. Hour and hour I would walk through the aisles to discover the new possibilities.
Around 10 years ago my health was not the best. After a vacation in Miami I came back with a lung infection that I caught in the airplane. I received high doses of antibiotics that first helped but later made things worse. Pretty much on a monthly basis I had an infect. I went from one doctor to the next but no one could help. After a while my battery was so empty that it drained my and I was not in a very happy place at that time.
After many tests that where all negative but accident I bumped into a holistic healer that told me to stay away from gluten and if possible also dairy. I was told I could have a gluten intolerance even though the blood test said I do not have celiac disease. So I changed my diet, helped that I always loved to cook, started reading a lot about food, cooking and so on. And what can I say, since I did this 5 years ago, I am so much better. I am rarely sick and my mood has also improved. Since I also think food should taste great and not only be good for me, I love photography and work in the digital world I launched my blog August 2016. I really hope you get some inspirations and try one or the other recipe.
